16th July 2023
Today (16th July 2023), we handed Chris Guesdon the official certificate from the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (IMSHOF) inductee night that was held on 6th May 2023 in New York City.
Chris and Sue Guesdon worked tirelessly to get the organisation up and running for many of years. The Australian Long Distance Swimming Federation (ALDSF) has served the sport for nearly 50 years and continue to grow and innovate.
For more information, head to https://www.imshof.org/class-of-2023-usa. The ALDSF was founded in Hobart, Tasmania in 1973 and is the longest serving national open water swimming body in Oceania.
The Foundation members and office bearers were President Christopher Guesdon, Deputy President Dick Campion, Secretary Susanne Guesdon, and Executive Member John Koorey.
All four individuals and the ALDSF were later inducted into the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (AMSHOF) and the first three into IMSHOF.
The ALSDF baton was officially handed over in May 2022. Chris Guesdon and Dick Champion handed the Presidency / Vice Presidency reign over to Doug Hughson and Val Kalmikovs respectively.
We now are also privileged to have Sharon Young (Secretary) as part of our team.
